NEW REPORT ON UNAMID
UNAMID on the Brink:
The Road to Security in Darfur Blocked by Government Obstructions
A December 19th report published by 35 international and 15 Canadian organizations, including Save Darfur Canada, points to Khartoum's role in delaying the deployment of Darfur peacekeepers. UNAMID, a joint African Union (AU) and United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission, was slated to have 26,000 troops on the ground protecting civilians by December 31st. Tragically, only one third are there and deployment of the rest may take months.
